CAHL teams hit the ice for start of 2024/2025 season

The Central Alberta Hockey League has hit the ice once again.

Action has kicked off for 2024/2025, and local teams have been busy.

In the U11 Division, Raymond sits at 0-3 in Tier 2 Blue. 

The team dropped a 12-6 decision to Oyen on Nov. 23 and fell 13-7 to Duchess one day later.

Last weekend, Raymond lost an 8-5 decision to Brooks. Cooper Rodeback had a hat trick, while Brixden Manning had a goal and an assist. John Baldry added one goal and Ty Walburger had an assist. Jordan Schmidt faced 40 shots in goal for Raymond.

Magrath’s U11 team is 2-01 in the Tier 4 Blue Division.

On Sunday, Magrath scored a huge 10-3 win on the road over Kainai, as Cody Beier paced the attack with six goals and one assist. Cooper Seward scored three times and Liam Stanford had a goal and an assist. Weston Odland picked up one helper. 

Magrath sits at 0-2 in the U13 Tier 3 Blue Division. Last weekend, the team fell 5-1 in a Saturday contest in Coaldale. Trigger Heggie had the lone Magrath goal, assisted by Lane Smith. Kalani Purcell made 29 saves in goal for Magrath.

In the Tier 2 Blue Division, Magrath leads the pack with a 3-1 record. 

Last Saturday, the team suffered its first loss of the year in a 5-3 setback to Chestermere. Easton Fraser scored all three Magrath goals, while Dayson Losse, Colton Olson, Cohen Brady Michel, Hayes Hill and Jaxton Rodeback all had one assist each. Evan Bezooyen made 30 saves in goal.

Magrath rebounded on Sunday with a 7-2 win over Okotoks. Fraser had four goals and one assist and Rodeback had two goals and two assists. Hill picked up two helpers and Nixon Barnett added one goal. Michel had an assist and Kraden Heath also added one helper. Bezooyen once again made 30 saves.

Magrath also leads the U18 Tier 3 Blue Division, as the team’s 2-0-1 record has been good enough for five points.

On Friday, Magrath hosted Coaldale and skated to a 3-1 victory. Ethan Hendrickson and Ross Ravoy each had a goal and an assist, while Knox Tame also scored. Kohlman Blackmore made 21 saves for the win.

Saturday featured a 16-save shutout from Blackmore, as Magrath defeated Claresholm 6-0. Logan Jensen had a goal and two assists and Kyson Johnson had a goal and an assist to pace the offence. Ty Godlonton, Joseph Noad, Mason Mehew and Makoy Mehew also scored in the win. Tame, Hendrickson, Cruz Johnson, Beau Beier and Adam Chipman had assists.
