Raymond’s U11 team picks up first win in CAHL play

Central Alberta Hockey League play continued on the weekend, and local teams were busy once again.

In the U11 category, Raymond dropped a Saturday contest but rebounded on Sunday for the team’s first win of the season.

Saturday’s 5-4 loss to Medicine Hat featured a two-goal performance from Cooper Rodeback, while Brixden Manning had a goal and an assist. Beckett Holt had the other Raymond goal, as Jake Walburger picked up a helper.

Jordan Schmidt made 28 saves in goal for Raymond.

Manning led the way in Sunday’s 5-2 win over Duchess, as he scored a hat trick. Rodeback chipped in with a goal and two assists. Holt added a single in the win.

Schmidt made 32 saves to pick up the win in goal.

Magrath dropped an 8-5 contest Friday in U11 competition, despite a two-goal, two-assist performance from Cody Beier. Heagan Mohr, Beckett Balderson and Davyn Gillam all scored one goal each, while Kacey Blackmore added an assist.

Raylan Owens made 40 saves in goal.

Magrath went 1-1 in U13 play, as the team started things off Saturday with a 5-4 loss to Okotoks. Lane Smith scored three times and Trigger Heggie had a goal and an assist. Chase Ririe and Hollister Turchyn had two assists each, while Ty Mehew and Riggs Hudson had one assist each.

Kalani Purcell made 32 saves in goal.

On Sunday, Magrath skated to a 5-1 win over Lethbridge, as Smith scored three more times and Turchyn had a goal and an assist. Gibson Bates had the other goal, while Heggie and Carter Juhasz had one assist each.

Purcell made 23 saves for the win. 

In U15, Magrath had one game on the schedule, a Saturday contest against Strathmore, and emerged with 6-5 win, as Easter Fraser led the way with five points on three goals and two assists. Cohen Brady Michel had a goal and three assists, while Erik Quapp and Colton Olson both scored once. Dayson Losse added an assist.

Evan Bezooyen made 29 saves in net for the win.

Magrath is 3-0-1 in the U18 division, as the team picked up a 5-1 win on Sunday over Foremost. Logan Jensen had two assists, while five players all scored once in a balanced attack. Ethan Hendrickson, Ty Godlonton, Makoy Mehew, Ryder Harrison and Knox Tame had the goals, while Joseph Noad, Paislee Loose and Gunner Sloan all had one assist each.

Kohlman Blackmore was in goal and picked up the victory.
