It was a classic rivalry game on the ice Saturday, as Raymond’s Tier 3 U11 team skated away with a 9-5 win over Magrath. Clay Nelson had four goals and an assist to lead Raymond in the Central Alberta Hockey League playoff game, as Jake Walburger chipped in with a hat trick. Parker Bourret had a goal and two assists, while John Baldry scored once and assisted on another. Beckett Holt notched an assist. Scarlett Hofer made 24 saves and picked up the win. Cody Beier responded with a goal and two assists for Magrath. Beckett Balderson, Davyn Gillan, Maverick Retzer and Liam Standford all had one goal each. Cooper Seward and Nathan Wilde picked up single helpers. Raylan Owens faced 54 shots in goal for Magrath.
Sunday, Raymond earned a 6-2 win over Magrath thanks to a goal and two assists from Nelson. Baldry and Holt each scored twice and Greyson Bevans added a goal and a helper. Jake Walburger and Ty Walburger both had assists. Hofer made 19 saves in goal. Kolten Baldwin paced Magrath with a goal and an assist. Cody Noad had the other goal. Owens made 17 saves for Magrath.
Raymond’s Tier 3 U13 team also had a successful weekend, which kicked off Friday with a 6-5 win over Coaldale. Cooper Rodeback had three goals and two assists, while Casey VandenHoek and Michael Bevans bothhad a goal and an assist. Jake Walburger had the other goal. Jordan Scmidt earned the win in net.
Sunday featured a 7-2 win over Coaldale, thanks to a Casey VandenHoek hat trick. Karl Russell Jr. Scored twice and assisted on another and Rodeback added a goal and two assists. John Baldry notched one goal. Schmidt made 32 saves and earned the win.
On the ice in U18 action, Magrath dropped a 7-3 decision to Foothills on Sunday. Tason Heath scored twice, Beau Beier added a single and Cooper Godlonton, Mason Mehew, Erik Quapp and Ty Godlonton all had one assist each. Kohlman Blackmore made 46 saves in the contest.
Magrath will continue its playoff quest with a Friday game in Magrath at 6 p.m. against Fort Macleod. Sunday will feature another home game, this time at 1 p.m. against High Country.
