Magrath and Raymond wrapping up CAHL playoff competition

Central Alberta Hockey League playoff action is winding down, and a few local teams are still in the mix.

On the U11 front, Raymond dropped an 8-5 Tier 3 playoff game to Foremost on Saturday, despite a strong game from Jake Walburger, who had two goals and a helper. Clay Nelson, John Baldry, Beckett Holt and Greyson Bevans added single markers. Scarlett Hofer was in goal for Raymond.

Raymond’s U13 Tier 3 team was busy with a three-game weekend, which began Friday with a 6-5 loss to Airdrie. Cooper Rodeback picked up a hat trick and Casey VandenHoek added a goal and two assists. Karl Russell Jr. added a goal. Jordan Schmidt made 18 saves in net.

On Saturday, Raymond scored a massive 14-7 victory over Rocky Mountain House. Russell Jr. picked up nine points on five goals and four assists, as Rodeback had eight on two goals and six assists. Michael Bevans had three goals and three assists, as VandenHoek scored twice. Brixden Manning and Jesse Wilde both had a goal and an assist. William Clark added a helper. Schmidt made 29 saves and earned the win.

Sunday featured an 8-6 win over Kneehill, as Russell Jr. led the way with seven points on three goals and four assists. Bevans picked up two goals and two assists, and Rodeback contributed two goals and an assist. Heath Smith assisted on two goals and Greyson Court had one helper. Schmidt made 34 saves in a winning cause.

For Magrath’s U18 team, the season ended with a pair of round robin playoff games that began with Friday’s 6-4 loss to Fort Macleod. Logan Jensen had two goals and an assist, while Levi Harker and Adam Chipman both had two-assist outings. Nixon Barnett and Beau Beier both had goals, as Cooper Godlonton added a helper. Evan Bezooyen made 45 saves in goal for Magrath.

Sunday’s offensive explosion earned Magrath an 11-0 win over High Country. Beier had three goals and one assist, while Chipman added a goal and three helpers. Easton Fraser scored twice and assisted on another, while Bronson Ripley and Ty Godlonton both had a goal and twi assists. Jensen scored twice and Colton Olson had a goal and a helper. Harker added two assists and single helpers came off the sticks of Barnett, Tason Heath and Cooper Godlonton. Kohlman Blackmore faced 32 shots on goal.
