Summer in the Brooks region brings a special kind of energy to the prairies. The days get longer, the skies seem bigger, and the community comes alive with celebration. If you want the perfect way to kick off your sunny season, the Newell Pro Rodeo delivers an unforgettable weekend of authentic western tradition.
Taking place June 5 and 6, 2026, at the Silver Sage Community Corral, this event offers nonstop entertainment for locals and visitors alike. Whether you are a lifelong rodeo fan or looking for a fun weekend outing with the family, the atmosphere here is second to none.
The excitement actually begins before the chutes even open. Throughout the week leading up to the main event, you can join the community for free pancake breakfasts hosted across town from 7 am to 9 pm. It is a fantastic way to meet locals, enjoy some great food, and soak in the mounting anticipation before the weekend arrives.
The official rodeo action kicks off on Friday, June 5. Start your morning watching the cowboys and cowgirls compete in Slack at 9 am. This gives you a great behind-the-scenes feel of the competition.
Spend your afternoon exploring the area, then head back to the Silver Sage Community Corral for the main Rodeo performance at 6:30 pm. Watch top-tier athletes take on thrilling bronc riding, roping, and racing under the evening sky. Afterward, keep the energy high by heading over to the rodeo dance starting at 9 pm.
Saturday, June 6, is packed from morning until night. Grab your lawn chairs early for the Kinsmen Rodeo Parade at 9 am. Right after the parade, take a stroll through the Saturday Farmer’s Market at Veterans’ Park. You can browse local crafts, pick up fresh treats, and enjoy the community vibe.
The action continues in the afternoon with the Little Britches Rodeo at 1 pm, where the next generation of rodeo stars shows off their skills. Later, the weekend reaches its peak with the final main Rodeo performance at 6:30 pm. Wrap up your unforgettable prairie getaway with another night of live music and dancing at 9:00 pm.
The Newell Pro Rodeo is more than just a sporting event; it is a celebration of community, heritage, and summer fun. Grab your hat, bring your family, and experience the warmth of the Brooks region.
