Stirling council meeting minutes

The following are selected briefs from the Nov. 1 regular meeting of Stirling Village council.

Recognition:

Stirling council extended appreciation and thanks towards the residents and businesses of Stirling for expressing patience during a water main valve failure which resulted in a subsequent boiling water order. As a result of this failure, council also thanked the public works team for responding succinctly and rapidly as well as their combined efforts with contractors to resolve everything with haste. 

Items for Discussion:

Council approved administration entering into a seller agreement with Onyx Realty Ltd over 225 4 Avenue. Currently it is slated for the property to be listed at $100,000. 

The new 2024 Interim Operating and Capital Budget for Stirling was shown to council and subsequently approved as presented. Additionally council also approved a revised cost scheme from the Alberta Municipal Water Wastewater Program for a potable water reapplication and administration was directed to proceed with the re-application using the presented costing. 

Council Reports:

Mayor Trevor Lewington attended a meeting with the Lethbrdige and District Exhibition where they spoke about the status of the new Agrifood Hub and Trade Centre which included discussion on promoting the regions and engaging agriculture producers from all across southern Alberta. 

Lewington additionally attended the Lethbridge Supply Chain Exchange event on Oct. 24 where the promotion of Canada’s Western Gateway Trade and Logistics Corridor along highway four was presented and supported. 

Coun. Larry Nilsson attended Ridge Country Housing and Coun. Gary Bikman attended the Chief Mountains Regional Solid Waste Services Commission.
