Raymond to celebrate local volunteers at Harvest Showdown

The Town of Raymond will host its second annual Harvest Showdown & Volunteer Appreciation Night on Friday, Sept. 25, at Victoria Sports Park Comets Stadium, featuring football, family activities, and volunteer recognition. 

This year’s Council Volunteer Appreciation Award recipient is Maxine West, recognized for more than 30 years of service to Raymond. West has served as secretary of Raymond Baseball for more than three decades and as a junior high and high school coach for more than 20 years. She has also supported local youth, public spaces, and the Museum Board. 

“Raymond is fortunate to have so many people who give their time, energy, and talents to make our community stronger,” says Mayor Bryce Coppieters. “This event is an opportunity to celebrate those volunteers and bring our community together.” 

The free event includes: 

• Barbecue: 4:30–6 p.m., for the first 1,000 attendees

• Face painting by the Broadway Dance Cheerleaders

• Football: Raymond Comets vs. Chinook High School, 6–8 p.m. 

• Halftime: Volunteer Appreciation Award, Broadway Dance Cheerleaders, and Chamber Business of the Year Award 

• Fireworks

The Little Free Pantry Board will collect hygiene donations to restock Raymond’s Free Little Pantries. 

Introduced in 2025, the event combines volunteer recognition with football. Last year’s event welcomed more than 1,000 attendees.
