The app will be an up-to-date source for weather, town events, and emergency notices.

While this app will not replace the notification system already in place, it will be a move forward for those who avail themselves of smart phone technology, particularly iPhone.

The app will not only benefit the community members, it will also benefit those that are planning a visit to Magrath.

While the pros and cons were discussed at length, the motion carried primarily for the town to move forward with developing technologies.

The app will be made available for a discounted rate, which will be grandfathered for the life of the contract.

Since Magrath is the first town to sign on with the app developer, SMB Apps out of Lethbridge, there will be a dedicated discount rate as mentioned above.

The app will provide timely information, such as weather, event schedules, and notifications for disrupted services and emergencies.

The app will be accessible for live updates by city personnel.

The yet unnamed app is being created at the present time; it will be a number of months before it will go live.  Further details will be provided as the project moves along.
