The Bumblebee Learning Centre is set to open this fall and will offer licensed Preschool & Pre-K classes for children aged three to five as well as supplemental programming for children already in kindergarten.

Karen Drummond, founder of the Bumblebee Learning Centre, says that the center is located on the lower level of the Town Hall in Magrath, and all classes are eligible for government subsidies (income of less than $180,000) which makes the programming very affordable

“Two half days a week is $60 per month or three half days a week is $125 per month,” said Drummond.

Drummond, who previously ran a preschool in Magrath, returned to Magrath after 25 years and noticed a gap in early childhood education in the community and partnered with veteran kindergarten teacher Bonnie Joseph, who has 16 years’ experience. Joseph, Drummond says, will be the centre’s Lead Educator.

“Recognizing play as essential to development, the centre will incorporate play-based learning throughout the day,” said Drummond. “This approach supports cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. Structured and unstructured play opportunities will be provided, allowing children to explore, experiment, and engage with their environment. “The centre aims to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where each child feels valued and understood.”

Drummond invites those who want more information about the Bumblebee Learning Centre to visit the centre’s Facebook Page or email BumblebeeBuzzZone@gmail.com.

“The Bumblebee Learning Centre also held a sneak peek on August 14, 2024, and plans to hold an Open House later this month,” said Drummond.

Drummond says that the Bumblebee Learning Centre will also offer afterschool programming, including an Afterschool Drawing Club every Tuesday from September 10 to October 29, 2024, and the registration fee for that course is $120 per student, which includes class supplies and an art journal.

“Interested participants can register by emailing BumblebeeBuzzZone@gmail.com,” said Drummond.
